The Van Sandt Bridge, also know as the Beaver Dam Bridge, is located in Solebury Township, near New Hope in Bucks County, Pa. This wooden covered bridge was built in 1875. The 86 foot bridge span crosses the Pidcock Creek near Washington Crossing State Park. Local legends say that the bridge is haunted, with claims that one can hear a baby crying near the bridge at nighttime. Another legend says that figures can be seen hanging from the rafters, as this was the spot where horse thieves were hanged in the past.
